Background

There is an enormous potential within commercialization of Biotech and Medtech from projects and companies in Region Midtjylland. However, for years there has been a lack of business skills to sufficiently harvest the benefits of this potential. This is why Medtech Innovation Center is a reality today.

The idea to start MTIC emerged in 2007 from BioMedNet, a network association of Biotechnology and Medtech companies in Region Midtjylland. These companies, all wanting increased focus on commercialization and implementation of ideas, inventions and research results, took the initiative to apply for funds to establish MTIC.

In light of these facts, MTIC has now been established as a part of the program "Business and Health" in Region Midtjylland, which with a basis in the health care sector aims to create innovative and globally oriented growth and business development in the region.

The region will create development-oriented cooperation between national and international research institutions, education, industry and the public health care sector - the aim being to create results that are visible to both the industry and the public health care sector.

MTIC will be one of the accelerators behind an increased business-development within the Biotech and Medtech industry. We will work with the commercialization and implementation of innovative research projects from institutions and companies with global economic potential.

MTIC has been established as an independent fund on a three-year grant, funded by Vækstforum and the EU structural funds.
